How GovtClear Works
We're not the government. Here's exactly what we are.
What GovtClear is
GovtClear is a plain-language guide to government paperwork. We exist for one reason: government websites are confusing, and millions of people waste hours — sometimes make costly mistakes — because they can't find a clear, honest explanation of what they need to do.
We read the official sources, extract what actually matters, and write it in plain English (and plain Hindi, coming soon). Every guide links directly to the official government website so you can take action there — not here.
- A plain-language explainer of government processes
- A library of step-by-step guides for common paperwork
- A directory that links directly to official government sources
- A starting point to understand what you need before you apply
- Free — no signup, no upsells
- Not a government website or agency
- Not a law firm — we don't give legal advice
- Not an official source — always verify on .gov sites
- Not a form processor — we don't submit anything for you
- Not affiliated with any political party or government body
How to use GovtClear
GovtClear sits between the question you have and the action you take. Here's the intended flow:
You have a question
You need to renew a passport, file taxes, update Aadhaar, or apply for benefits — and the official site is confusing.
Read our plain-language guide
We explain what you need, what it costs, how long it takes, and the common mistakes to avoid — in plain English.
Go to the official site and act
Every guide ends with a direct link to the official government website. That's where you submit, pay, and apply.
How our guides are created
Every guide on GovtClear follows the same research process:
We read official government instructions, portal help pages, and published regulations — not third-party blogs or forums.
We identify the documents needed, fees charged, typical timelines, and the most common rejection reasons — and present them clearly.
Every claim is traceable. Every guide ends with the official government URL so you can verify every step yourself.
Government processes change. When fees update, portals move, or forms are revised, we update our guides. Our readers also help flag outdated information.
How we make money (honesty section)
Right now, GovtClear is funded by its founders. We believe access to clear information about government processes should be free — and we intend to keep it that way.
We don't sell your data. We don't charge for guides. We don't have a premium tier behind a paywall.
In the future, we may introduce optional features — like email alerts when a process you care about changes — but any paid features will be genuinely optional. The guides will always be free.
How to use GovtClear safely
Every guide has a prominent button linking to the official government website. Use it before taking any action.
We display a "Last updated" date on every guide. If it's been a while, double-check with the official source.
We don't collect fees. If anything on this site asks for money or personal information — it's not us.
For complex immigration cases, tax disputes, or appeals — consult a licensed attorney or certified professional.
